Luthier et compagnie - Le Mans - string quartet instruments
Born in Saumur, France, in 1973, Stéphane Taveau made his first violin at the age of 17 beside Bernard Camurat in Seine-et-Marne, France. One year after he joined the « Camurat Frères » workshop in Paris, where he had the opportunity to closely observe many fine instruments of the classical period of Italian makers.
In 1995, he spent time in South Korea, where he enriched his experience in a famous restoration workshop. In 1997, In 1997, he established himself in Le Mans, France and took over Franck Ravatin's workshop.
In 2011, he created “Luthier & Compagnie Ltd” and opened a second workshop in Tours, , France.
Since then, Stéphane Taveau is specialised in making fine violins and violas. His work continuously evolves,, thanks to regular exchanges with international makers and enriching relationships with musicians.
Recognised for the aesthetic and acoustic qualities of his instruments, he often takes part to internationals exhibitions and competitions such as :
“International Violin Making Competition” 2011 Mittenwald, Germany / “Viola's” 2012 and 2014 in Paris /
"Mondomusica" 2013 in New York / "Musicora" 2012 and 2015 in Paris / "Bellevilloise" 2015 and 2016
He is also a member of the ALADFI
